Gargoyles
Gargoyle
as reservoir
back
to index
They were used to keep away the rainwater coming down the buildings
and were as famous as protectors.
Their demonic appearance should reproach to the bad spirits as a mirror and to
hold them back.
a water reservoir
for flowerpots.

The figures are hollow inside to be able to store the water. About a felt
tongue
(in two different sizes)
the water is dribbling into the pot and holds your plant moist.
Our figures are
created to the blueprints of Eugene Viollet-de-Duc.
Viollet-de-Duc (1814 – 1879) was the responsible architect for the
restoration of medieval buildings, e.g. for Notre Dame or the Basilica of Saint
Denis.
The nowadays famous gallery of gargoyles at Notre Dame are fakes or new
creations of
Viollet-de-Duc. The original figures were mostly rotten, only few you
can see in the museum today.
